Become An IM Official

Thank you for your interest in becoming an intramural employee! Throughout the year, the Intramural Sports Program at the University of Michigan hires students to fill roles as officials, equipment managers and supervisors.

Without our great student staff, we could not operate our program on a daily basis! All employment opportunities within Intramural Sports are listed below:

New Officials

Please complete the following steps in order to apply for a position:

Fill out the Official Interest Form
Fill out the Online Hiring Application located on the Student Employment Office website
Fill out an I9 Form
1. You may either complete this step at the General Information Session OR bring it already completed to the session
Provide Two Forms of Identification (A list of acceptable documentation can be found on the I9 form)
1. You MUST bring them to the General Info Session OR fax copies of them to (743) 936-2673
Attend Training Clinics
1. Attendance is required for the sport(s) you are applying to officiate. Plan now to attend as many clinics as possible
Complete Rules Quizzes
1. Locate and read the rules for each sport you are applying to officiate

*NOTE: If you have worked for the University of Michigan in the past three (3) months, either for Recreational Sports or any other department, you do not need to complete the I9 form or show identification

Returning Officials

Please complete the following steps in order to apply for a position:

Fill out the Official Interest Form
Attend Training Clinics
1. Attendance is required for the sport(s) you are applying to officiate. Plan now to attend as many clinics as possible
2. You do NOT need to attend the General Info Session
3. You DO need to attend as many sport-specific clinics as possible
4. Clinic attendance is used to determine priority for how many shifts you will work during the season
