Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone participate?
In case you may have heard that other outdoor or adventure-based programs may be uncomfortably demanding (or just plain uncomfortable), it is important that you understand that our program is designed for paticipation by everyone, regardless of age, size or physical condition.
At the Challenge Program, we abide by a Challenge by Choice philosophy that enables each participant to define their own level of challenge. If any individuals don't feel comfortable with certain aspects of an activity they can choose their own way to be involved. This might mean participating in the planning and strategizing and not necessarily the physical action. Utilizing the Challenge by Choice philosophy allows everyone to be involved and to challenge themselves at their own pace.
What about bad weather?
The Challenge Program operates rain or shine. However, we are flexible and will adjust to meet the groups’ needs in the interest of providing the best possible program. We provide an option for indoor programming to accommodate smaller groups. If lightning prevents us from using the high elements, we will re-schedule that part of the day at no additional cost.
What about kids?
We welcome certain High School groups (sport teams, leadership councils, etc.) and some Middle Schools groups on a special basis. If the Challenge Program is unable to accommodate your group we can refer you to a similar organization within the area.
What about lunch (or other food)?
It is up to each group coming out to the Challenge Program to arrange for meals. If you have a program that is more than a few hours we recommend having snacks on hand, and including a lunch in your program often adds to a feeling of connection and camaraderie. Here is a list of caterers our clients have had success with.
