Congratulations to senior Karl Boothman from the Michigan Men's Rugby Club for being recognized as a USA Rugby Academic All American, and senior Mary McCarthy for being selected as a USA Rugby Women's Collegiate All American.

2011-2012 Academic All Americans
"USA Rugby would like to recognize rugby student-athletes who are top performers in their academics as well as major contributors for their rugby program. Any rugby player who is considered a consistent starter on their college or university’s rugby team, who is at least in their junior year and who has a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.7 out of 4.0 or higher is eligible to be an National Collegiate Rugby Scholar.
“On behalf of our USA Rugby collegiate programs of more than 850 teams, Tam Breckenridge, Associate Director of College Rugby, and I congratulate these scholar-athletes on their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom,” said Rich Cortez, USA Rugby Director of College Rugby. “The criteria for this award require commitment and determination in both arenas. We wish the honorees continued success in their chosen fields.”
2011-2012 Women's Collegiate All Americans
"These student-athletes are recognized as the best collegiate women’s rugby players in the country. There are two lists of All-Americans, Division I and Division II.
The list of Division I Rugby Scholars includes 30 student-athletes from 16 different universities and colleges across the country, and the 22 Division II student-athletes come from 17 different institutions. These 52 individuals were selected from a pool of over 12,000 women’s collegiate rugby players.
Selectors used the fall and spring seasons to develop pools of players recommended for National recognition. The Collegiate All-Star Tournament and the Collegiate National Championships were used by the Collegiate All-American Coaches, Martha Daines and Assistant Coach Sue Whitwell, along with Women’s National Team Coach Pete Steinberg, and the Under-20 Coaches, Danielle Miller and Assistant Austin Hall, to refine the pool into the final list of top players as listed below."
