MRock's Future in the IMSB Renovation

Through the programming process, the facility planning committee heard feedback about the best location for climbing on campus. After hearing that feedback, it was determined that a new climbing tower, bouldering wall and equipment check-out area would be best suited for the Central Campus Recreation Building. However, as a part of the IMSB renovations, a bouldering wall has been identified as an add alternate option for the renovation project. That means if the project receives favorable bids, it could be added to the IMSB renovation. The bouldering wall could also be added back into the IMSB plan with the help of a donor. There are many factors and budget restrictions to consider and the CCRB site is the most suitable long-term option for a climbing and bouldering area.

Our Outdoor Adventures staff is exploring options for regular climbing opportunities at Planet Rock and the possibility of expanding climbing trips to Grand Ledge, Michigan. The last day the IMSB will be open for drop-in recreation will be Monday, April 20, 2015.

We encourage your feedback in this process and would welcome any questions you may have regarding MRock or the IMSB renovations. Please visit our FAQ page to learn more about the project.

MRock is available to students as well as the general public.
