Women’s Club Water Polo are back to back national champions!
After winning their first ever national title in 2023, the Wolverines entered the 16 team Collegiate Water Polo Association’s Club Championship bracket as the top seed. They started the tournament with a 24-8 victory over 16th ranked Texas State University and followed that with a 22-6 win over 8th ranked Northeastern University.
In the semi-finals, they were matched up against the 4th ranked University of California-San Diego who they beat with a close 8-7 final score. 2nd ranked UCLA beat 3rd ranked University of California-Davis 9-5 on the opposite side of the bracket, leading into the finals.
The Sunday championship proved to be an exciting matchup with Michigan coming out on top of UCLA 10-9 in a double over, sudden victory win.
Individual awards for the Wolverines included:
- Mia Barr – Most Valuable Player & All Tournament First Team
- Claire Tuttle – All Tournament First Team
- Ava Dominick – All Tournament Second Team
- Emma Kaipainen – All Tournament Second Team
- David Abbott – Coach of the Tournament
