While the risk to the American public is low, it’s our aim to provide a clean and safe environment so you can continue to pursue your fitness goals. Here’s what you can expect from Recreational Sports in response to the COVID-19 outbreak:

  • Increased awareness and cleaning on touch points by University Custodial Services
  • Deep cleaning performed at IMSB and NCRB during Spring Break, and continued deep cleaning in all facilities
  • Increased frequency of current cleaning protocols
  • Additional Recreational Sports student staff on-site to clean equipment and machines
  • Additional signage to encourage users to clean equipment and machines before and after use, and practice healthy personal hygiene habits

In addition to our efforts, please stay home if you feel sick, wash your hands often, and remember to clean your equipment before and after you use it.  If you need additional sanitizing spray, cleaning cloths, or hand sanitizer while you are in our facilities, please ask the employees working at the welcome centers.

Please refer to the U‑M Public Affairs website regarding COVID-19 updates. If you have additional COVID-19 questions, please email coronavirus-info@umich.edu.

Due to the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered that all recreation centers close, effective immediately. All Recreational Sports facilities will remain closed indefinitely.
