Claire Bartosic (LSA ‘18) participated on the Women’s Club Water Polo team from 2014-2018. You can now find her on the pool deck as the head coach of the Walled Lake Cobras. She joined the team as head coach in early 2020, and this year, has earned the honor of the Michigan Water Polo Association’s Girl’s Head Coach of the Year.
MWPA Coach of the Year is a peer-selected award, and the MWPA President, Rebecca Godek shared that “Claire has brought this program a long way in the last few years and taking her team to the state tournament for the very first time was such a great accomplishment for her.”
The team is a combination of players from Walled Lake Northern, Central and Western High Schools as well as Lakeland and Milford High Schools. After spending the season outside the weekly top 10 teams in the league, they finished 3rd in their district tournament, pitting them against Saline-Milan who was ranked in the top 10 all season. Walled Lake upset Saline-Milan 4-2 in the biggest upset of the year in Girls Water Polo this year.
